Ukraine Urges Allies: 'Unblock' Patriot Missile Deliveries Amid Attacks

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on Western allies to 'unblock' the delivery of Patriot missile defense systems following a series of deadly Russian strikes. Ukraine asserts these systems are critical to protecting its cities and infrastructure from relentless aerial assaults. The United States, a primary donor of military aid, faces pressure to expedite these high-demand weapons.

We Need Patriot Missiles Now to Save Lives and Cities

Ukraine's government insists that immediate and substantial delivery of Patriot missile defense systems is vital for national survival. Daily Russian attacks devastate civilian areas and critical infrastructure, and only advanced air defense can counter them effectively. Delays in transfers directly result in more casualties and damage.

Protect Civilians

Patriot systems are proven to intercept Russian ballistic and cruise missiles, directly saving innocent lives in Ukrainian cities. Every day without these systems means more death and destruction.

Critical Infrastructure

Russia targets power grids and other essential infrastructure, aiming to cripple Ukraine. Patriots are indispensable for defending these sites and ensuring the nation's functionality during wartime.

Unblock Supply

We urge our partners to overcome any bureaucratic or logistical hurdles preventing timely delivery. The systems exist; they must be sent to where they are most urgently needed.

Balancing Global Defense Needs with Ukraine's Urgency

The United States acknowledges Ukraine's urgent need for air defense but emphasizes the complex realities of providing advanced military systems. Patriot missiles are scarce, require extensive training, and must be allocated considering global security requirements and U.S. strategic readiness. We are a leading donor, coordinating with many allies.

Limited Inventory

Patriot systems are highly sophisticated and produced in limited quantities globally. The U.S. must maintain strategic reserves for its own defense and commitments to allies worldwide.

Training & Logistics

Operating and maintaining Patriot systems requires significant training and complex logistical support. Rushing deployment without adequate preparation can compromise effectiveness and safety.

Extensive Support

The U.S. remains Ukraine's largest military aid provider, including numerous air defense systems and ammunition. We continually assess capabilities and collaborate with allies to optimize support.
